Duck Creek Camp to Quail Meadow Camp (18.2 miles)

Started out today's hike at 6:35 AM. Warm morning at 54 degrees clear but windy. I reached Purple Lake at 8:20 AM. I arrived at Virginia Lake at 9:30 AM. My left knee was giving me real trouble. Brian helped me out with a ace bandage wrap. I arrived at Tulley Hole at 11:10 AM. and The Fish Creek crossing by 11:30 AM. I thought this was a fantastic place, wish I had more time to just hang around. I reached Squaw Lake at 1:15 PM. Almost to Silver Pass!! Made the summit of Silver Pass at 2:25 PM. The temperature was a nice 66 degrees. Good story to tell here. On the last mile up I make a statement to myself "Jesus cant I just get 5 seconds of shade" I look at my watch and it 84 degrees. Less than two minutes later a dark cloud come over and the temperature drops to 64 degrees. When I made the statement I was more complaining than asking. Later down below Silver Pass Brian and I are walking along and come across a Marmot in the middle of the trail. This marmot is eating on a piece of horse dung. This marmot refused to move from his dinner in the middle of the trail. Brian and I decided that if he wants it that bad we would just wait. I arrived at Quail Meadow at 6:15 PM.
