After getting our gear sorted and stowed we began the days hike at 6:20 AM. I reached Johnsom Meadow by 8:00 AM to find a note on the trail sign from Brian that he was moving on to Red Meadow. I reached Devils Postpile boundary at 8:35 AM. Reds Meadow by 12:20 PM. Upper Crater Meadow by 1:00 PM. The black flys are the worst I can ever remember. DEET does nothing to even slow them down. Reached Duck Creek at 5:15 PM.
